EYST

The Environmental Young StoryTellers project delivered a week long training course, for youth workers wanting to engage young people in environmental issues, via storytelling.
Real Time took part alongside partners from Sweden, Greece, Turkey, Romania and Portugal.
The project run by STORIE DI MONDI POSSIBILI, in Rome from 21st to 26th May 2024, offered training to youth workers and volunteers in digital storytelling techniques applied to environmental education and the fight against climate change.
Methodologies including autobiographical storytelling, video interviews, digital storytelling and photo-narration were used to explore environmental issues. Participants then worked in small groups to plan, record, edit, and screen, 5 videos made in collaboration with local Italian environmental projects.

Share your Story

StoryAP is a free portal for sharing individual or collective stories, concerning social and personal change.
It was set up as a means to share ideas and experiences on a wide range of issues. It includes work, from projects or initiatives, carried out by informal groups or organizations, which seek to bring improvement in society, in different fields, such as Human Rights, Equality, Environment, Community, Fair Economy, etc.
It also offers the opportunity for individuals to share experiences and autobiographical stories, which concern reflections and experiences concerning the theme of personal and social change. For example life experiences that increased our social and cultural awareness, meetings that allowed us to know social realities that we didn’t know, historical events lived by the personal point of view, etc.
These stories can be:
– stories you have experienced firsthand, as individuals or as a group;
– or you can tell stories of experiences made by others, people of all ages and countries of origin.
The archive is open to stories in a range of media: text, images, video, comics, etc.
It’s free to use, just go to: storyap.eu to find out more.

Introduction to Participatory Video in Social Action
- 16th May, Varna
This introductory one day course will explore how PV can be used in a range on non-formal educational settings.
Real Time uses Participatory Video (PV) and creative storytelling to drive change processes.
This is a tried and tested approach to unearthing novel insight, developed over more than 35 years in a wide range of settings, it involves groups in communicating their own stories on video. In turn, this can build awareness about what prevents change happening, and what needs to be done.
'Used in a participatory way, video can be a powerful tool, which allows people to examine the world around them, gain awareness of their situation and become more actively involved in decisions which affect their lives.'
The course will be led by Clive Robertson founder of Real Time and an expert in the filed of participatory video, see:
